Open 9:00 a.m. daily from Memorial Day to Labor Day.  

 

Visitors can enjoy the park in the offseason by parking outside the gate and walking in, hours are still the same!

Camden - X Country Skiing & Snowshoeing

Camden Hills State Park

280 Belfast Road

 

 

19 Trails many offering Snowshoeing and several which offer X country.  One of the few places that you can ski and view the ocean at the same time.  Trails range from .3 to 5 miles.

Fryeburg - X Country & Snowshoeing

 

Mountain Division Trail 

 

with hopes of spanning 52 miles between Portland and Fryeburg.  

 

2  Secitions of the Trail are currently open.

 

6 mile segment Standish to South Windham & Fryeburg / 4 mile segment NH border, along railroad track.

 

To reach the trailhead at Johnson Field in Standish, take SR 35 to its intersection with SR 114. The parking area is on SR 35, 0.25 mile east of the intersection. In South Windham, you can park at the Post Office on US 202.

In Fryeburg, you can park at the Maine State Visitor Information Center on US 302 (97 Main Street)

Activities:  Bike, Inline Skating, Wheelchair Accessible, Walking, X Country Skiing

Millinocket - X Country Skiing

 

Michael Michaud Walking & Biking Trail

1.65 mile loop on both sides of the Millinocket Stream.  Paved - signage.

Bradbury Mountain State Park

 

800 acres of forested land, on route 9,  between Portland and Lewiston-Auburn.  One of the original 5 state parks, acquired by the federal government in 1939.

 

Cross-country Skiing

  • Packed trails for back-country style skiing:

    • Link Trail (an East Side Trail)

    • Northern Loop Trail (a West Side Trail)

    • Tote Road Trail (a West Side Trail)

    • Snowmobile Trail (an East Side Trail)

  • Allowed on trails marked with a cross-country ski icon in the trail descriptions.

Sanford - X Country Skiing & Snowshoeing

 

Sanford Railroad Trail

aka Deering Pond Trail

aka Railroad Trail

The trail runs along an abandoned rail line running from Portland to Worcester.  

 

The trail passes Deering Pond, and a railroad car fell into the pond never to be seen again, that the pond is believed to be bottomless!

 

This is a popular spot for ATV's and Snowmobiles.

 

Trail Activities:  ATV, Fishing, Horseback riding, Mountain Biking, Snowmobiling, Walking, & Cross Country Skiing.

Mt. Blue State Park

(my personal favorite)

 

Open year round - hours 9:00 a.m. to sunset unless otherwise signed at the gate.

 

Advance reservations are strongly suggested for the campground, my experience they fill up fast!

 

an 8,000 acre park, including Mt Blue, a day hike (weather permitting) 3,187 ft.

Cross-country ski trails at Mount Blue State Park provide an opportunity to see some of the park's more remote areas in winter's splendor. Six trails traverse forests, fields, and old farmlands Fifteen miles of groomed ski trails range in length from a half-mile to 10 miles.

Snowmobile trails wind through the park, connecting the Maine ITS system and local trails.
