The ship changed size and shape, but always appeared sailing straight ahead at full sail, no matter what the weather was like.

Trailhead
From North: From the intersection of ME Routes 4 and 17 in Oquossoc Village, follow ME-17 south for about 18 miles and turn right on to Houghton Road (adjacent to a large field on the right side of the road). Immediately cross a bridge over the Swift River, then turn right on to Bemis Road and drive 3.4 miles. Park on the left side of Bemis Road in a small parking area just before a sign marking the trailhead.
From South: From the intersection of ME Routes 17 and US Route 2 in Mexico, follow ME-17 north for about 17.5 miles and turn left on to Houghton Road (about 4 miles beyond Coos Canyon in Byron, and just after a large field on the left side of the road). Immediately cross a bridge over the Swift River, then turn right on to Bemis Road and drive 3.4 miles. Park on the left side of Bemis Road in a small parking area just before a sign marking the trailhead.
Safety Note on Roads: Houghton and Bemis Roads are logging roads. Logging roads may require four-wheel drive and may not be appropriate for small cars or cars with low clearances. Be sure to park on the side of the road where you will not block traffic. Logging vehicles always have the right of way.

Ghost Sightings at Paddy Holler - Foxcroft Cemetary - stories passed down over the years say that some of the older folks hooked on canned heat died in this small town after drinking poisonous canned heat, also on Hemore Rd there is an old green house that sits kitty cornered and has been abandoned since 66, when a young woman with 9 children passed away from a misdiagnosed brain aneurysm.

The largest complete three dimensional scale model of the Solar System in the World Covers a 40 mile area!
Built by the University of Maine - Presque Isle and space enthusiasts, a community project.
1:93,000,000 scale, the models are sculpted and painted planets on tall poles to map out our solar system.
The sun a giant yellow ring cutting right thru Northern Maine Museum of Science, Mercury rests above a public garden, Venus sits just outside a motor inn, Earth is located on the grounds of a car dealership, Mars greets people as they enter Presque Isle University, Jupiter is in a roadside field surrounded by its many moons, Saturn, Uranus and Neptune are scattered further downt the road, and pluto is mounted inside an information center off of interstate 95.

He doesn't let people onto the property - but the "visionary art" can be viewed from the street - he claims to have been abducted from aliens from his alien like ship that is mounted to the roof of his house, and he also claims to have died briefly and met God, which has inspired his artwork. The Town is trying to shut down! Visit before it's gone!

Boy and the Boot Fountain / Pierce Park
One of 29 Fountains in the World depicting the "Boy and the Boot". According to Wikipedia this boy could be one of 3 different stories, but the truth be told no one really knows for sure. 1916 added to park.

Watering Holes
Nickerson Lake - 12 Kelleran Street
In addition to the beach, there are two hiking trails on the South Side of Nickerson Lake, one takes you to the top of the "mountain" - its about 1 1/2 miles long and the other loops around and starts about 300 ft straight back from shore line and is about 1.7 miles. Courtesy maps can be found 200 ft from the shore attached to a tree in a box, please return when your done!

Jonesport was once the home to 15 Sardine canneries, Maine has had 400 different Sardine cannery businesses over the years, but in 2010 the last one closed. Sardines small herring, were unregulated which led to over fishing and has now has serious limitations which makes it not profitable.
