Randolph

Ghost Sightings @ Randolph Forest - Old Narrow Gauge Trail - From the forest, witnesses have reported voices calling out to them, or screaming at them, and have seen orbs, flashes, and dark shadows. They have heard footsteps and felt a feeling of dread. Some say there is a spirit named Bicycle Eddie who may be trying to impart a message

Hiking Trail(s)

Bald Mountain

Views of Rangeley Lake, newer fire tower which offers fantastic view of Mooselookmeguntic Lake & in the background Upper Richardson Lake.  The hike up offers some incredible views as well.

To get to Bald Mountain travel west on Rt 4 through Rangeley to Oquossoc. Keep going until Rt 4 ends at Haines Landing and then take a left on to Mountain Road. A little less than a mile on Mountain Road is the parking lot and trail head on the left. The trail is well marked and well worn.

Bemis Mountain

Not easy to find and not an easy climb.  Spectacular views from the summit.

Directions:
To get to Bemis Mountain, travel to Rangeley on Rt 4. Pick up Rt 16 in Rangeley and continue west towards Oquossoc. Rt 17 will go left and South. Travel down Rt 17 for approximately 2-3 miles and take the Bemis Road to the right. It is the first road to the right off Rt 17. This is very well marked in the Maine Atlas. It is a dirt road and eventually goes along one end of Mooselookmeguntic lake.   If you come to a bridge over Bemis Stream, you have gone too far, turn around and the sign is much easier to read from this angle, go back about 2 miles and sign is on your left.

Waterfalls

Angel Falls

Directions: Take West 17 towards Rangeley; The turn off is located about 16 miles down that road on the left; it is about 4 miles past Coos Canyon (just to give you a landmark); the road takes you over a bridge (swift river) and is called Houghton Road but there is no sign; Take a right on Bemis Road and you will see signs for Angel Falls; parking is located about 4 miles down the dirt road. Follow the red markers clearly indicated on the trail. And, expect to get a little wet because you have to cross the water a couple times. Wear good shoes and keep following the red markers until you get to a huge set of falls

Suzuki's Sushi Bar

419 Main Street

207-596-7447

Suzuki’s Sushi Bar in Rockland is not like other sushi restaurants. First of all, the sushi chefs are women.

Second, there is no fried food and no grilled food. In fact, there are no stoves, no ovens, and no deep fryers. The cooks steam dumplings and simmer soups on electric induction burners using standard pots and an innovative homemade system of wooden and glass boxes.

Third, the fish are more likely to come from the Gulf of Maine than from Tokyo Bay, and the meat and vegetables come from local farms instead of big distributors. The omakase (chef’s selection) is often made up entirely of local fish.

Fun Fact

Birthplace of the inventor of the Donut With a Hole!

A sea captain, named Hanson Gregory loved fried dough, he use to eat his fried dough while at the helm, he would stab his dough onto the helm wheel so he could access his snack when needed,  and then in 1847 he had the cook make them with a hole, so they could hang from helm, and the doughnut began!
